Launch help

Launch day, step by step.

Two small jobs on your side: point your web address at your new site, and forward the calls you miss to your Frontbay Line. Each takes about 10 minutes, and we can do both with you.

Connect your web addressForward your callsUpdate GoogleUndo anything

Connect your web address

Easiest: let us do it. Most domain companies let you give us access without sharing your password. GoDaddy calls it Delegate Access, Namecheap calls it Share Access, and Cloudflare lets you add a member. Invite the email in your portal, and we handle it on launch day. You can remove our access right after.
Your email is safe. We only change the records for your website. We never touch the records that run your email (called MX records), so your email keeps working exactly as before.
Before launch day, tell us about: any online booking tool, forms or chat widgets on your current site, and whether your email runs through Google Workspace or Microsoft 365. We'll make sure nothing you rely on disappears.

Doing it yourself

On launch day your portal shows two values made for your site: a CNAME target and a TXT verification record. Copy them exactly as shown. Then:

  1. Log in where you bought your domain and open its DNS settings (see the table below).
  2. Add the TXT record we give you. It proves the domain is yours.
  3. Add a CNAME record with the name www pointing to the target we give you. If a www record already exists, edit it instead of adding a second one.
  4. Point the bare address (without www) using the row for your company below.
  5. Tell us in your portal. The lock icon (HTTPS) usually appears within an hour, sometimes up to a day while the internet catches up.
  6. Old page addresses from your previous site automatically land on your new home page, so old links and Google results don't hit an error.
Where you bought itWhere DNS isThe bare address (no www)
GoDaddyMy Products → Domains → your domain → DNSGoDaddy can't point the bare address directly. Use DNS → Forwarding → forward to https://www.yourshop.com, type 301 (permanent).
NamecheapDomain List → Manage → Advanced DNSAdd an ALIAS record with host @ and the same target as www. Delete any old A or URL Redirect record for @ first.
CloudflareYour site → DNS → RecordsAdd a CNAME with name @ (Cloudflare handles it automatically). If you proxy it (orange cloud), set SSL/TLS to Full.
Squarespace (incl. old Google Domains)Domains → your domain → DNS → DNS Settings → Custom RecordsEasiest: Domain Forwarding → add a rule from @ to https://www.yourshop.com, 301, with SSL on. Tell us before you try an ALIAS record; it needs DNSSEC turned off.
PorkbunDomain Management → Details → DNS RecordsAdd an ALIAS record with the host left blank and the same target as www.
WixDomains → Domain Actions → Manage DNS RecordsWix doesn't make the bare address easy. Let us handle this one with you: send us a message and we'll set it up together.
Anyone elseLook for "DNS", "Zone" or "Advanced DNS"Look for ALIAS, ANAME or "CNAME flattening". If there isn't one, forward the bare address to the www address.
Don't want to change your domain at all? We can send you your site as a single file for your current web host, or you can keep your old site and link to your new quote page. Ask in your portal.

Forward your calls

You keep your number. You just tell your phone company: "if I don't answer, send the call to my Frontbay Line." Your Frontbay Line number is in your portal.

What we recommend: forward only the calls you miss, and leave it on. During the day you answer as usual, and anything you can't pick up goes to your line. After hours nobody answers, so it all goes to your line automatically. There's nothing to switch on and off each night.

Cell phones: dial the code, then press Call

Replace NUMBER with your 10-digit Frontbay Line number, no dashes.

Test it (2 minutes)

  1. From a different phone, call your shop number.
  2. Don't answer. After a few rings your Frontbay Line picks up.
  3. Say you're testing. Within 2 minutes you get the summary by email and in your portal.

Update Google

Most customers find you on Google Maps, so point your Business Profile at your new site:

  1. Search your shop name on Google while signed in, or open the Google Maps app and tap Business.
  2. Tap Edit profile → Contact → Website.
  3. Enter your new address with https:// at the front and save. Google reviews the change before it shows.

Undo anything

Phone: dial the "turn it off" code above (*73 on Verizon, ##004# on AT&T and T-Mobile), and calls ring only your phone again. Website: put your old DNS records back, or tell us and we'll do it. Nothing is locked in.
